Quia Multum Amavi

 "In courtesy I'd have her chiefly learned;
Hearts are not had as a gift but hearts are earned
By those that are not entirely beautiful;
Yet many, that have played the fool
For beauty's very self, has charm made wise,
And many a poor man that has roved,
Loved and thought himself beloved,
From a glad kindness cannot take his eyes." WB Yeats A Prayer For My Daughter [with kind permissions]

In a non pretentious manner, I have often walked on the beach or through a field and seen a particular stone which, to me, seems to desire animation further than it already has. Every stone has an ancient history even before the worlds builders contained it in a castle or keep.

My desire is to take a single stone and sculpt the piece into a piece with a new saturated life. There have been so many I have begun and my muse escapes me and I have to confine the unfinished work to the wings until its desire is transparent.

I work with the smaller but as hard as the mountains rocks. At times I will go out of my way to find a piece of granite or other which has been hidden by the earth herself. I walk on the clay we come from and free stones which are buried beneath the clay in which we will eventually return.

 While I do not hide the interpretation of each piece, there nontheless are stories which unfold in spending time with the form.

I cannot take any credit for the gifts I have been given. All I have is soley down to the love of a good family, the miracle of my daughter Eilish, the strong hands given to me through years of Opus, the direction of my informed heart and the insipirations of the wind, rain, sun, moon, stars and Dei.

Thy Face is yours

De profundis clamavi ad te, Domine:
Domine, exaudi vocem meam:
Fiant aures tuae intendentes,
in vocem deprecationis meae.
Si iniquitates observaveris, Domine:
Domine, quis sustinebit?
Quia apud te propitiatio est:
et propter legem tuam sustinui te, Domine.
Sustinuit anima mea in verbo eius:
speravit anima mea in Domino.
A custodia matutina usque ad noctem:
speret Israel in Domino.
Quia apud Dominum misericordia:
et copiosa apud eum redemptio.
Et ipse redimet Israel,
ex omnibus iniquitatibus eius.
Gloria Patri, et Filio,
et Spiritui Sancto.
Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper,
et in saecula saeculorum. Amen
